    Rigorous Peer Review

Peer review is a well-known key tool in academia that guarantees the quality of published research. The evaluators are in charge of verifying the quality of the publication, as well as its originality and relevance. Once the manuscript is accepted for peer review, two evaluators, external to the Editorial Board, review it following the double-blind check modality, which guarantees the impartiality of the evaluation. Once the evaluators have reviewed the text, a report will be sent to the authors for comment. Only when the author, editors, and evaluators have reached an agreement on the final version, will a publication contract be signed. To know more about our peer review policy, please click here.

    Competing Interests

LARC is committed to transparent and bias-free research. To ensure that all publications are as open as possible, all authors, reviewers, and editors are required to declare any interests that could appear to compromise, conflict with, or influence the validity of the publication. This process is designed to reinforce the readers' trust in the research data. Books should clearly display information regarding any possible conflict of interest, such as funding information or affiliations to particular organizations. For more information, please read here

    ORCID

This registration provides a unique and persistent digital identifier for the account that enables accurate attribution and improves the discoverability of published papers, ensuring that the correct author receives the correct credit for their work. As the ORCID remains the same throughout the lifetime of the account, changes of name, affiliation, or research area do not affect the discoverability of an author's past work and aid correspondence with colleagues.

    Good Practices

Through membership of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), our editors and editorial boards receive ethical guidance and professional networking. All of our journals adhere to the COPE guidelines for best practice.

    Anti-Plagiarism Checking

A combination of pre-screening and open access is the best possible defense against plagiarism. All books published in LARC are automatically screened for plagiarism by the Similarity Check system from Crossref. This system compares incoming submissions to a large database of academic content, and alerts editors to any possible issues.

    Open Licenses

All LARC content is released under open licenses from Creative Commons. We believe that only CC BY-NC 4.0 meets the requirements for true open access for books. We support the Budapest Open Access Initiative, which states that open access “will accelerate research, enrich education, share the learning of the rich with the poor and the poor with the rich, make this literature as useful as it can be, and lay the foundation for uniting humanity in a common intellectual conversation and quest for knowledge.”

We also endorse the Panton Principles, which state that "for science to effectively function, and for society to reap the full benefits from scientific endeavours, it is crucial that science data be made open."

    Indexing

All LARC content is indexed with Crossref and assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI). This means that all of our references are made available so that citations can be tracked by the publishing community, and the content is added to the Cross-Check anti-plagiarism database.

    Archiving

As members of CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) our content is regularly archived with many of the world's leading research libraries. The CLOCKSS archive ensures that LARC content will always be made available as open access, in any eventuality. Our books are automatically archived in Directory of Open Access Books (DOAB) and disseminated via OAPEN.

    Professionals Affiliations

The Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA) provides an opportunity to work with other publishers to further the interests of researchers in advocating open access throughout the world, and requires all members to follow a Code of Conduct.

The Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP), the largest international trade association for scholarly and professional publishers, provides access to professional training materials and events.

The Association of American University Presses is an organization of mission-driven publishers whose members strive to advance scholarship through their offerings. The Association’s mission is to assist its members through professional education, cooperative services, and public advocacy.

    No Lock-in

LARC uses open, non-proprietary standards for all of its content, meaning that it can be easily transferred to archives and other publishers. All of our article XML is compliant with the Journal Archiving Tag Suite (JATS) schema.
